This will be a fantastic itinerary of temple tours in the mornings and daily writing class in the afternoons, cruising along the inspirational waters of the Nile on a 5 star boat, The Nile Smart, with your accommodation and meals all included.

Over the course of the trip you will receive 10 hours of writing tuition (within a 2 ½ hour class per day). Given the fabulous natural environment, historic culture, monuments and atmosphere we will look at the story of the landscape; working on how to open up description, build characters, voice and plot – including the writing of a love letter to the Nile.

Monday:

Arrive to boat at Luxor by 9am

Morning: Karnak and Luxor temple

Afternoon: Writing class (3 to 6 pm)

Evening entertainment

Tuesday:

Morning: West bank visit - Valley of the Kings and Queen Hatshepsut temple.

Afternoon: Writing class (3 to 6 pm)

Boat sails Tues night

Wednesday

Morning: Edfu visit

Afternoon: Writing class (3 to 6 pm)

Boat arrives Aswan late evening

Thursday

Morning: High dam, obelisk and Philae temple

Afternoon: Writing class (3 to 6 pm)

Evening entertainment

depart boat at Aswan by 1pm

*Breakfast time depends on visits. Lunch at 1 pm and Dinner 7 pm.

*The writing course is 10 hrs in total and will be given as 2 and ½ hours of tuition each day within the 3 hr class time.

*Your Writers' Cruise payment of 1900 LE is based on per person sharing a twin room with ensuite bathroom (including full board basis (meals), visits, writing course and evening entertainment) and excluding airfares, beverages, tips and hotel transfers to and from the boat to airport (extra 80 LE per person).

*Recommended first flight on Monday 12^th May (Cairo-Luxor) and a noon flight Friday 16^th May (Aswan-Cairo).

Short Biography of the Tutor

Linda Cleary is a poet - writer – performer, originally from UK with a theatre background and Diploma in LAMDA Speech and Drama. As well as her own work as a writer, actor and performer www.lindaclearypoetry.blogspot.com – and working with musicians to create live performances http://www.soundcloud.com/lindacleary and with film makers on various poetry films http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0ZDQapSSAg&list=PLC1E8ACDD79A0BC9E she has also created installations using text/audio and image exhibited in several prominent galleries. Linda has led other successful residential writing holidays in Fayoum and Bahareya, White Desert and has been delivering workshops in creative writing, theatre and related arts for many years; working in Holland, Czech Republic, Australia, UK and Egypt and currently provides courses at Diwan, Egypt and is Director of The Writers' Centre; follow the blog to keep up to date with all courses, workshops and events offered. She was also recently Editor in Chief at Rowayat www.rowayat.com
