The Creative Writing course acts as an extended masterclass looking at various techniques and exercises to open up and improve writing skills, work with metaphor and imagery, create texts and narratives to given themes and word counts as well as free writing.

There is no criteria other than a willingness to open up one's writing; the course is designed that people of varying writing experience can participate and each draw their individual benefits.

4 weeks (8 hr course)

once a week on Saturdays starting 22nd February

from 7pm to 9pm

at Diwan Heliopolis

and

once a week on Tuesdays starting 25^th February

from 7.30pm to 9.30pm

at Diwan Zamalek

For those who completed the 4 week Creative Writing course or who have proven writing skills.

This course focuses on work on character, voice, atmosphere, plot and building story and we continue with further creative writing expansion techniques.

We also read published short stories for discussion and understanding format, focusing on the necessary elements for each student to produce a final draft of a 1000 word narrative.

4 weeks (8 hr course)

once a week on Mondays starting 24^th February

from 7pm to 9pm

at Diwan Heliopolis

The Rowayat Launch - 1st Issue

One huge, resounding thank you to Sherine Elbanhawy for her tireless devotion in creating the new literary journal Rowayat of which I am editor - for without Sherine's work nothing would have been achieved - and because of her there is now a vehicle for writers from Egypt and those connected to Egypt to move forward nationally and internationally. Chapeau ya Sherine!!! Truly, thank you so much ♥

Literary Felucca on the Nile AKA Action Felucca!

We took another literary felucca on the Nile - this time with just 5 of us - but we still had poems and stories till the end of the 75min trip. The felucca today was action packed as you will see in the photos! As when we arrived to the banks of the Nile the water was out quite a way and the two feluccas were a little stuck in mud. We had to jump onto the largest felucca (which had 5 girls on it already) then after that one and the one next to it managed to get free from the banks so then the men brought the smaller 2nd felucca round and we had to do a transfer in the middle of the Nile by hopping over, then after a few minutes our usual boatman jumped aboard from another felucca further down the Nile and the boatman we had got off - then we were on our way! We had a fabulously inspiring ride around the island then when we returned we had to again transfer boats by jumping over from one to the other in the middle of the waters then climb onto a table - yes a table - that was placed near to the banks and finally we were home and dry :)
